Tiramisu

A soft, creamy Italian-inspired dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a lightly sweet mascarpone filling.

Ingredients

Cream Filling

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coffee Layer

  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, optional
  • 24–30 ladyfingers

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Chocolate shavings, optional

Instructions

  1. Brew the coffee or espresso and let it cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, making sure not to soak them too long.
  6. Place a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
  8. Add another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers, then spread the remaining cream on top.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  10. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings if desired.
Tip: Dip the ladyfingers quickly. If they soak too long, the tiramisu can become too soft or watery.
