Tiramisu
A soft, creamy Italian-inspired dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a lightly sweet mascarpone filling.
Ingredients
Cream Filling
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coffee Layer
- 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
- 2 tablespoons sugar, optional
- 24–30 ladyfingers
Topping
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- Chocolate shavings, optional
Instructions
- Brew the coffee or espresso and let it cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, mix mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, making sure not to soak them too long.
- Place a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- Add another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers, then spread the remaining cream on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings if desired.
Tip: Dip the ladyfingers quickly. If they soak too long, the tiramisu can become too soft or watery.
